Did this in a couple days. What's the best way to approach 50-80?

If you want to level multiple crafters concurrently then Ishgard restoration/Diadem - use job guild vendor to do the initial crafts to like level 20+ and then Ishgard everything.
If you want level only one or two quicker then mostly leves and daily GC turn ins. When 70 and up - Crystarium, Dwarves, GC turn in and some leves if you want it quicker.
Gathering will level up from Ishgard or if you are not doing it - leves. Fisher via oceanic fishing.
Seconding Ishgard restoration. It’ll help you level and you can also turn a pretty penny off you decide to get the materials yourself in the diadem and sell your extras.
Plus there’s a bunch of other rewards like mounts and minions and outfits. It’s grindy but satisfying and high yield.
It's good but also can be slow. It's good to try boost some professions via easy but high-exp leves when possible so you focus Diadem mats on the most problematic crafters. And by around 70 it's IMHO to slow and it's better to start shifting to Crystarium deliveries, dwarves, GC and SHB leves if there are efficient ones. Like CUL will boost with leves nicely but LW with SHB leather will rather be to expensive so GC, Custom Deliveries, Dwarves and Crystarium to boost it with as little primary crafting :)
Yeah 60 is good to at least add in beast tribe quests, at 70 that’s really all I do… unless I want skyward scripts.
Yeah but you make mad money while leveling 70-80 with ish.
Bro I took your advice (a few other people here said the same thing), got my mining from 27 to 60, botany to 60, and those 4 crafting professions past 50 doing ishgard in a matter of hours.
I had to sink some money into a bit of materials but my god, power leveling
Edit: what's really nice is being able to make money back while grinding your gathering
Now you have to jump to 80, get books, do stuf... :D
Ishgard mats are really well priced compared to alternatives.
People mention ishgard restoration a lot, but it does cost resources, which you can grab with your gatherers so thats ok if you like that.
But don't skip over beast tribes! Every expansion has a tribe that has quests that give fantastic exp for pretty much nothing at all, except maybe some startup quests (Bird tribe for ARR, Moogles for Heavensward, Namazu for Stormblood etc).
Ive mostly ignored ishgard restoration in favour of beast tribes.
Ixal, moogle and namazu have been fun so far and helped a balanced levelling to 63 for all crafting I have as of now.
You make back any money you put into ish restoration resources via the kupo tickets and scrips
Ishgard restoration and Leves.
quick synth whatever your highest available craft is (if mats are affordable, or if you feel like gathering them yourself), macros for firmament crafts, use manuals/food/materia
How exactly do the macros work? I have only found ones for level 80 crafts or ones that require certain item level requirements to use. I've been struggling to find a good source of information on the game. What would the WoWhead equivalent be for FF14?
Reddit - ffxiv - Ishgard Restoration guide. Macros included for all levels. https://www.reddit.com/r/ffxiv/comments/dvsh7t/ishgard_restoration_guide_macros_included_for_all/ and teamcraft will be very useful when it comes to macros and crafting information! to be honest i also pieced together a lot of information from various wikis and other sources, until i finally started to understand. the firmament is a place in heavensward where you can level crafters and gatherers fairly easily, the crafts have macros (in the reddit post i linked) that you can set up where you can just press one button and it’ll churn the craft out for you (provided your stats (craftsmanship, control, CP) match those recommended for the macro/level craft). manuals you can get through your grand company, through quests, or purchase with yellow scrips to give you xp boosts/stat boosts as well as certain foods depending on your level
I guess I should ask what the BEST source of info would be. I've used a couple wiki's so far but they all seem to be lacking in one way or another.
From 1-50 highes quick synth possible.
From 50-80 levequests and firmament
50-60 is hard because of your gear, if you don't want to spend much and go for yellow scrips because you get good gear for it from 60-80
Mentioned levequest are:
Ishgard levequest 50-60
Kugane levequest 60-70
Crystarium levequest 70-80
1-20 whatever is cheapest from vendor bought materials
20-80 ishgardian restoration stuff from firmament
There's a really good and through guide for ishgard quick lvling which also includes the amount of materials you need and recommend gear to use for it
Do you have a link? The guide I had been using only showed recommended scrips and items for grinding, pretty basic.
Not at hand sorry, I got it on the PC but it's a very quick Google search
The great thing about firmament is you don't have to constantly upgrade gear
I opted for "Collectables" for leveling 50-70 for each class on crafting. Spent the Yellow Scripts to buy tools/gear @ Lv 65 and Lv 70 (And master books when I bought all of the gear). Then I did HQ leve quests for all my classes 70-80. And mixed in Craft class quests for filler exp. Traded in HQs daily at GC turn in. Saved Crystarium Deliveries for when I was low on leve allowances, ended up making back all of my money and turned a profit. Hell, I forgot about the Dwarves Beast Tribe quests. But good to know when jumping into new level cap later.
I stopped doing Firmament because the prices fluxed hard on my server and one class costed me 500k for maybe 7 levels? Not good for me.
As for Gatherers, just pop Survival Manuals and go farm up stuff you need for your crafters and you'll level faster than you think until 50. Then just Collectable Gather until the end + Custom/Crys Deliveries. And class quests of course
And for Fisher, go do Ocean Voyage. You dont need to score high, just bring generic bait of Plump Worms and Krill. And just fish for 21 mins each time. Catch nonstop, toss out the fish (they are useless) or vendor it for chump change and go on next Voyage.
Thank you all for responding, I had posted this before bed and forgot I had even posted it.
Half of what is being said is unknown to me lmao. Scrips, restoration, firmament. I thought I did my research but I guess I only did enough to cover ARR. I'll definitely look up everything and use your advice once I understand what all these terms are.
I story skipped to SB (which in retrospect I regret because I played through the SB story completely without skipping and loved it) so a lot of mechanics are lost on me. I came from WoW after playing it for almost 2 decades off and on and thought a boost would be pretty straight forward with previous expansion mechanics not mattering like it was with WoW. Boy was I wrong.
