Going to show this to my church tech team
I am the church tech team
Jokes on you... I am the church tech
When did Reddit get support for gifs in comments?
*THAT’S* what all these blank comments I’m seeing are! Failed gifs. Damn, they worked last week….
Reddit added it in a while ago, but it’s on the individual sub to enable them I think
Well you can also just comment # and it’ll show up as blank, which is what I thought it was
I was wondering why recently I’ve seen so many blank comments and people acting like nothing was weird
First time seeing these GIF comments. They'll be interesting to come across
Are you using the official app? Or web browser? The app seems to consistently be the worst way to browse Reddit, then the “new” website isn’t far off.
I was using the official Android app when I saw that comment.
Browsing reddit on a Sunday morning 😅
Same here 😉
Single tech checking in. Running the livestream and working with in-house audio system.
Eyy same :D
Get thee behind me ~~tech problems~~ Satan.
We had a mic start giving feedback at church one day, when we had a guest speaker. As we were fixing the issue, our pastor took the mic from the guest speaker, prayed over it, while during that prayer, we fixed the issue, and the pastor got all the credit.
Same thing happens to doctors all the time
What are you talking about? Doctors don’t run the soundboard. Idiot.
Reminds me of this meme: https://www.reddit.com/r/ProgrammerHumor/comments/covgb5/lamo/
uffff I can feel the pain.
But actually if anybody the Lord should get credit.
No, no. It was me. I turned down the fader that resolved the issue.
Unrelated, I see you have a burn stick. Are you requesting Hermit Challenges?
Yes but clearly God guided your hands and wisdom, and only through prayer did that happen. Thanks pastor!
It might be too convoluted to properly explain, but I’ll try.
I can tell you it’s a running joke from a group of professional Minecraft players. Most specifically the players, Grian, Iskall85, and Mumbo Jumbo. They play on a server called Hermitcraft.
Hermit Challenges was a series of jokes and dares and pranks amongst the players on the server. Mostly the three I’ve mentioned.
You could request a challenge by placing a “burn stick.” Which just meant you’d place a campfire.
It was all very funny. It happened in season seven. Google the player names along with “Hermit Challenges,” and you’ll find them, if you care to watch. It’s all on YouTube.
Lectionary tie in and everything!
You guys have a team?
You guys have technology?
Our iMac with propresenter just decided to stop working mid sermon. Another time the projector didn't work. And another time the device that connects the iMac to the projectors stopped working. A lot of things can go wrong
*just admit you folks ain't faithful enough 😏*
This is the first time I've seen an emoji italicized and it is sending me. It just adds to the smugness omg
Damn, you have to be faithful to project at church? I shouldnt be projecting then.
We went to a church in a barn once, where the pastor insisted that the whole congregation spend 20 minutes praying for the projector remote to be fixed. The pastor told a story about how when he was in college he prayed for his toilet to unclog, and his roommate roasted him for not getting a plunger.
Finally an old lady asked if they could pray for something real, like her friend in the hospital.
Aside, but how do you italicize an emoji?!
Are you on PP6 or 7? My church has been too hesistant to go to 7 fearing issues
PP7 has been great for us. Been on it for a long time now. We wanted lyrics on stream and PP7 makes that easier.
P6. And my church is the same
Been a church tech for a decade. Pro7 finally puts the “pro” in ProPresenter. A game changer for sure but does feel on par with other “Pro” level apps for technical complexity and training required.
ProPresenter 7 can sometimes be buggy. But in my experience, they fix the bugs pretty quickly.
Some of the features (looks, NDI support, audio routing, etc.) have been very useful for my church throughout the pandemic. I couldn't imagine using anything else at a time like this.
That being said, my situation is probably unique since I attend a small church. A larger church, especially one with multiple tech volunteers, might be more reluctant to learn a new software.
It's always the Macs. We have a convoluted setup involving a Mac as well, and it is the fussiest machine in the whole building. If you switch one of the inputs in a way it isn't expecting, everything goes completely sideways. The service was once delayed by 15 minutes because this happened during morning rehearsal and I couldn't figure out how to fix it.
Systems fail wether you want it or not
I work in theater tech, and had to pivot my theater to digital really quickly at the start of the pandemic. What I learned, looking at the tutorials and equipment reviews and stuff, that there were exactly three groups of people that did livestreaming before 2020: large churches, gamers, and camgirls. Strange bedfellows
I’m about to pitch my Onlyfans evangelistic outreach ministry to the church board.
Honestly it's pretty weird that this incredible technology was so limited to those three.
well that's pretty much when anything goes wrong.
this just happened to us today...
Service starting in 7 minutes 🙏🏼 Lord, please watch over our tech team, Amen
YouTube cut for a minute. First issue in several months. I blame this meme.
Us as well.
Running livestream audio right now and everything’s going fine. Don’t jinx it for me.

TFW Dennis Raider the BTK serial killer was caught because the 2.5” floppy he sent to the police to taunt them contained a signature from the church he was a tech at
For us it's a mic that's cutting in and out
When the video audio doesn’t play
As a church sound engineer who had this happen today, this is hilariously topical!

We’re so thankful for the livestreams though 💕 for our immunocompromised brothers and sisters
I am the Church Tech. At 15 somehow
If you get really good at your A/V skills you could be pulling up to 6 figures a year as an A/V tech for concerts/corporate events. Eventually if you start your own A/V business you could be making even more.
Just letting you know because i wish somebody had told me when i was younger lol
Ooo alright thanks. Also im more running the cameras but i also know bits and pieces here and there
Try and pick up as much as you can. I always wish i'd learned more about camera operating/streaming, but even just being well versed in sound and lighting has given me sooo many opportunities.
If you can learn all three (camera/streaming, lighting, and sound) you'll be a very wealthy man and you'll be able to pick and choose whatever gigs you want. Even with what i know now i'm making $20/hr and they want to bring me on full time at 80k/yr with benefits, and i'm 25 with an associate's degree doing a job i love. My biggest regret is that i didn't start learning this stuff sooner since i had no idea it was a career path.
Alr i gotcha. Appreciate it man
Meanwhile the viewers at home find another live streamed service on YouTube, end up liking it more, and eventually leave to go to the other church
"Do not click that other link, the devil takes many forms!"
We don't do this here
Our stream sometimes goes down every 10 minutes and sometimes doesn't go down for weeks
Pure panic mode
“Praying to the machine spirits is not working!”
We moved into a new building in January. While running through the system with the installers I asked what was the worst case scenario plan? My boss said this building and equipment is x-dollars and brand new and I won’t need to do anything.
Anyway, I got them to show me how to hard patch a camera feed into the server if like everything except the Internet went down.
4 months later the building got hit by lightening that morning!!!! Camera gen lock is fried, two of three cameras are toast. Still got the service online.
Apparently the “ground” was installed improperly.
Or you could, you know, go to church
Ooh, look at Mr. Fancy Pants, who still isn't under lockdown restrictions and can attend services in person! /s
This is so good
Is that Gamera?
Goodness. I've been proud of myself for just figuring out how to turn down the mids to get rid of consonant feedback, and we're not even streaming. Lol
I helped run the sound system for my youth group when I was like 15-16, and the reason I got so stressed out when a problem occurred was because I knew the youth pastor was going to yell at me for it. 🙄
"Tech Team" consisting of one man who checks in on a 13 and 15 year old just before and after the service.
As a member of my church’s tech team, I can say that this is very accurate.
I would LOVE to see the flag football at the Church picnic...
I relate to this on a spiritual level. Our computer is possessed I swear.
This was my team today!
This image looks like it was borrowed from "Twisted Kaiju Theater" on the Neo Monster Island website.
Thanks for that info
Our team is just our guy who helps out in the alter
kaigens sure they love it
