Likely, the items you'd want to move to RAM are "unimportant' as compared with the stored data on your drive. If your HDD is really on it's last legs, you should really look for a replacement. For clarification, does "last legs" refer to space or wear/tear/age?

AC3_N1X

yes and HDD's are really cheap these days so I would look into replacing 100%

You can look at this part of the wiki, but it's not going to do much: [https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Install\_Arch\_Linux\_on\_a\_removable\_medium#Minimizing\_disk\_access](https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Install_Arch_Linux_on_a_removable_medium#Minimizing_disk_access) I don't know what fs your using but you can optimize less writes on the disk with btrfs as if your using the options for an SSD.

NateDevCSharp

Maybe compression with zfs so you write less and faster

__jomo

btrfs along with what others said

NateDevCSharp

You can't just buy an SSD? They're like 40$ lol

Independent-Meat-994

not if i have 0 dollars

NateDevCSharp

Oof rip
