Oof, that's a lot of text. Didn't read all of it so maybe I missed it if you already mentioned this.
minadein recently made a playlist of like 40 manifest fights with no grasta or gacha units. May be helpful to link.
Of course, I like it if players try out the mechanics themselves, but no harm in including that as reference if they get completely stuck in a fight
Of course, my primary reason to link them is simply proof that it's possible. I see several people on discord remark that it's impossible with lower resources, and if I'm in the mood, i usually make a custom video for them using their resources to show them it's possible.
Very good guide! I am almost at end game and learnt one or two things from it.
Silly side question but what's the best way to farm exp for the manifest weapons? Great guide was super helpful and informative.
Most effective is killing frogs in boss rush stage 4
Other than that, you can try 0 mp macro farming
Or if you can't do that, then exp dungeon
Also, red key dungeons give aot more exp than the same enemies in the overworld.
I generally just fight every battle in red key dungeons to level up manifest weaps.
Pretty new player here. They are fun. I have totally finished Suzette and Akane AS (both complete before I had any Grasta whatsoever). Currently leveling Isuka, Claude, and Deirdre. I like doing them but I am not sure how useful they really are since even with the weapon the units still seem pretty power creeped. So it's more for fun and a few gems than actual usefulness it seems to me. I wish they leveled quicker. Takes me 2-3 weeks to get from 1-10.
Let me introduce you to Cyrus Trainer for levelling manifests quickly.
Although everyone else calls it Frog Abuse or something more violent lol.
How useful they are will completely depend on what units you have
As Akane is still like top tier fire slash and Suzette is good for wind aoe and applying pain/poison, plus true manifest in the future
Claude is still an amazing pierce support with both offensive and defensive debuffs as well as some useful buffs
Deirdre and Isuka has shown their age a bit, but they are still very strong if you have no other roles
Deirdre also turns into a beast if support by As Miyu and Isuka 50% speed debuff is also useful if you lack units for those challenges
Thanks! I actually do use Akane AS on my slash teams, she's pretty fun and can get nutty inside of AF. I have Miyu AS too, may give her a go with Deidre.
This is amazing. YOU ARE AMAZING!:-P
This is awesome! Thanks for making this guide for the folx encountering this content from an updated look at the state of the game vs when they were first getting released. So much has changed and it’s so helpful to have this look at the tools available!
Idk if you can edit the post, but for mobile, it would be a bit helpful to have an additional line skip for each new paragraph. Everything gets so squished on handhelds 😔
No problem, I don't know about the paragraphs, but I did to each section, see if that helps with spacing on mobile
[it’s just a bit dense. makes it challenging to see where you are if you look away and come back, I think? ](https://imgur.com/a/hJTQVhr)
mobile format has always been a bit weird, I tried spacing it a bit, see if it's better now
Well, Reddit’s just cursed. Which we all knew. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ I closed out the app and reloaded fresh but it won’t change. 😩
yeah, sadly I can't really do anything about the reddit format as for some reason it seems to remove the spacings that I add, unless I add in like 2 or 3 spacing, but then that will just make the post 2X longer than right now to scroll through
Yeah 😩 Makes me think of the “Graphic Design is my passion” meme, but with Web Design.
Its mostly because of the way that reddit handles "quote" blocks
I have removed them, so it should be easier to view on mobile, I think..
That really does do a lot, yeah. You lose out on the neatness of splitting it into chunks that you’d done, but it’s a lot easier to see each piece of info.
This guide has been incredibly helpful - I have Pizzica, so I've been using her in place of Cress for her Oratorio, until it's time to finish the fight after the last HP stopper, where Rhapsody Aria makes it a clean finish. Harle's Lunar Protection was the key to make Dunarith possible, even after the owl dies. Thank you!
no problem, glad to help
As a returning player this guide helps out a lot. Is there any limitations with the current build when doing the collab events? I have not yet done the symphony or cross events yet. Thanks again!
Though i don't know what you mean by limitations
The collabs are unlocked after chapter 13 and aren't too hard to complete
Sometimes bugs cause different stories need to be finished before certain other quests can continue.
Just wondered if the latest version was okay to do the symphony quests without issue
You should be fine, I don't think there's currently any game breaking bugs related to the collabs
I've been stuck on Diedre for awhile. Time to get the Cross units and the persona units I guess.
Violet with her personal weapon will cheese any fight where the enemy is *not* resistant to earth. She's one of the hidden best characters in the entire game. I say "hidden" since she's older so people don't talk about / hype her much these days, as all the vets already know. She's very high up in the wiki tier list, but that list isn't meant for noobs and e.g. xPalox literally told people to ignore the rankings so...yeah, her being high is "hidden", yet so VERY true!:-P
You will VERY MUCH appreciate those characters once you have them!:-P
Nothing to add but gratitude. Thanks man
Oh wow this is amazing information. I have always held off these fights as some of the gimmicks were crazy, and I was even using newer units for past manifests so can’t imagine how frustrating they would have been when first released.
I’m just curious if I can cheese some with Pizzica, Garambarrel, Tsubame AS, Chiyo AS, Melissa, Tsukiha ES, Rosetta AS, Dunarith AS, Ewan AS, Nagi ES and Necoco so I thought it should be a breeze but nope, Mariel manifest had me so confused and lost lol. I did splurge but I still feel this game requires team synergy rather than meta which is cool. And I guess I don’t have the cooking armour or anti-lightning gear. Will need to farm those.
Yes, all manifest bosses are just gimmicky with their own gimmick, so best to go to wiki in case and team synergy is key, since a team who can take advantage of buffs and debuffs of all units will be far superior than a random mishmash of OP units who just don't work together
As for Mariel, her fight, without grasta assuming you have the right weapons (Cross prima weapons on your main DPS, kid and Serge in my example below), isn't too bad, in fact you can **actually beat the fight without any armor at all, TBH**
I used a team of Milla, Cress, Kid, and Serge
Since she doesn't attack on turn 1, just get cress in for slash zone and then af on turn 2
you want to use the af to get kid's stacks going and then spam her z steal and red needle once for the buffs
Serge is outfitted with fire element to make his attack fire, he just spams his dps skill, which is the aoe skill that also gives him stacks
Cress is just there for slash zone and his distortion sword buff
Milla is there for her type debuff and physical debuffs
After af, you just need to keep kid's z steal buffs every other turn and rotate between that and red needle since her and Serge with all of the buffs on, can down a Mariel every turn, so you can finish the fight in like 4 turns
You will never really get hit, so no need for armor
This is awesome
as a new player, where this guide helped me the most was explaining some of the mechanics of the game! Thank you.
Somehow I missed this when it was first posted and I saw it recently linked when someone was asking for help.
It's a long read, but it's VERY informative and super helpful. Nice work. It seems like it took a lot of time and effort to put together.
On a side note, the one thing I don't like about Reddit is that it's pretty easy for posts to just "disappear" after they've been initially posted. They just get get lost and buried under all the newer posts. Or if it's an older post and someone wasn't around to (or active enough) to see it posted, it's also likely to be lost in the ocean of posts since.
No offense, but these guides always say that the first fights are easily beatable with level 60 characters. However, I continue to get my tail handed to me with level 80 characters. So clearly I’m doing something wrong, but nowhere can I find anything that talks about how to set up teams for the first fights, or at what stage of progression you should start looking to do these fights.
Could you elaborate a little for the newbies coming in and trying to understand when they should go play with grandpa?
I mentioned that a few of them are pretty beatable at lvl 60, but that also depends on the fight as its very hard to expect lvl 60 units to beat the first fight of like Yuna's manifest
Most of these fights are all about countering their game mechanics and how to counter them, so its understandable for you to get handed if you don't know much about the game mechanics behind the fights or don't have OP units to brute force them
Try getting the free units that I mentioned in the guide and use what I described in the guide to see if you can beat them
As for grandpa, what do you mean?
IF you are talking about his tests, like the grad series tests, it should be beatable with a balanced lvl 80 team with the gears mentioned in this guide (early game gear)
As for his superboss mode, that one is suppose to be a lot harder, it might be beatable with just free units with early game gear and no grastas, but I can't really test that out since I don't thin you can fight him again and I did him a while back
No I meant the demon with the manafests. Sorry. Ok, I’ll go look at those units you mentioned and see what all I need to work on. Thanks.
Minimum, you can do a majority of the manifest fights with stuff you can unlock after completing part 1 of the main story, so like chapter 25 or 26, most of the gears that I listed are collab gear that you can get in the collabs that unlock at chapter 13 and a lot of the collab units have their own personal weapons which aren't that hard to get
For consistently you will need lv 60 armor, so you might have to clear mythos chapter 3 to farm anti-lightning armor (mythos is unlocked after chapter 25)
But realistically, since you need to finish part 1 to unlock the manifest battles and it takes a while to level them up, you will usually fight the second fight a lot later
Is Hismena (NS) one of the unusually difficult manifest fights? It's the only one I can challenge right now that I still haven't beaten.
I should probably go get the Chrono Cross units soon...
She has 3 hp stoppers and can summon an Isuka with around 15M+ hp who can also break zone
and a Claude with around 10M+ hp
So yes, she is probably up there with As Toova and As Isuka as the top 3 hardest
And yes, while for some reason I didn't get a video of it, her fight is pretty much beatable using the cross units and method listed above
I will quote my exact comment from before about her fight in case you get lost
>Hisumena can be tackled in a similar way to As Toova and As Isuka
>I used kid, Harle, Serge, and a flex DPS (I used Cyrus, but anyone can do) in magic slash zone, no grastas
>Harle has water type shield element, she can use one of those elements to buff your team's type attack (or recharge if you run out of mp for some reason)
>Serge can be configure to be water or earth type, best if you can match it with the element of your flex dps and then have Harle buff both attacks, (only Hiusmena has resistance, Isuka and Claude don't resist any elements)
>Serge has physical resist and a healing skill element on, Serge will be the main healer
>Kid has her debuff skill, her charge skill, and her big hitting skill with the 80% physical debuffs
>Game plan is use af to get all of of your cross unit's buffs and debuffs on, then use like kid's debuffs and if possible, the shields in af, if not, you can use the shields on the next turn
>You want the af to do around 5M damage and than chip away at her her until you build af bar and break hp stopper, once iuska is summon, af her down asap
>You are free to do as much damage to hismena since even if you hit hp stopper, Claude isn't too much of a threat and you can recharge you af faster than they can kill you
>Just remember to keep kid's debuffs on for the majority of the fight and the shields on, on all times
